![]() This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"-being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. ![]() Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. I think that the next song on the album "so long, so long" is the morning after the night before, ie, this song.Īn amazing song tho, DC never fail to impress.Īn amazing song tho, DC never fail to impress. then the chorus again reiterates how he knows it could be good or bad.Īnd the last line, "can you believe your eyes?" is him in shock at what has actually just gone on. The next verse is to do with him just wanting to stay like it forever and is pretty self explanatory. i think the last two lines are about him going down on her, with "hot on the inside where the girls prize is, at the tip of your tongue" being his tonge on her g - spot. The next verse is them both being naked and having sex. im not sure if "lace and secret places" means that he knows its wrong, or if its new to him, so he feels like a kid, with the "secret" place. I think the third verse is about how she takes him upstairs to his room, and the fourth being how it becomes obvious that she wants sex, and she puts his hand down her underwear. and "she might just save your soul" as in actually it could go worng, but there is a chance she could be his saviour. and then "she might just leave you torn" meanin shes gonna leave him and break his hear. I think the chorus is about how after he knows that it might not work, as " she just might get you lost" this may mean that he'll get left in the moment, or she'll leave him and he'l fell lost and alone. I think that this song is about the new romance, the first verse being when they first met, and he instantly fell in love, and then the second being the first kiss and he was instantly hooked with her. To stay like this is everything you'll ever need Where every move and each impulse brings clarity ![]() ![]() Out on the inside where a girls prize is at the tip of your tongue Under the cold sheet, where the welcomed touch of skin and skin will meet The city longs well for rooftops and invitationsĪll lace in secret places, she moves you to touch with her hands She leads you up, points out skylines and stars, steeple chases in barsĪnd took your keys and demanded that you stay If she gets you when she gets you any closer Such a charge that you need another touch, another taste, another fix ![]() The first time you looked at her curves you were hookedĪnd the glances you took, took hold of you and demanded that you stayĪnd sunk in their teeth, bit your heart and released ![]()
